LAND USE AND RANGE RULESline_green.gif (1123 bytes)

Please be advised of the following official policy:

Unanimously adopted as SMVM policy, 02 August, 2005:

"If you cannot legally own a weapon, then you will
not be allowed to handle one at any SMVM training, function, meeting or event."

LAND USE;

No alcohol, No illegal drugs, and No illegal weapons allowed at ANY SMVM training anywhere, ever.

While on site at Camp Stasa, any privately owned range or training facility, it is important to remember that you are invited guests. Please conduct yourself in a respectful manner. At any time and for any reason you may be instructed to leave by the land owner or his appointee. You must gather your belongings and leave when instructed. Failure to do so may cause you to be in violation of trespassing laws. If such a situation arises there is no debate and there will be very little if any discussion. Appeals if any should be made at a later date in writing to the field training officer or the property owner. Only after the property owner has notified the field training officer would such banned people be allowed access to the facility again.

RANGE RULES;

1.Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.

This is the primary rule of gun safety. A safe direction means that the gun is pointed so that even if it were to go off it would not cause injury or damage. The key to this rule is to control where the muzzle or front end of the barrel is pointed at all times. Common sense dictates the safest direction, depending on different circumstances.

2. Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.

When holding a gun, rest your finger on the trigger guard or along the side of the gun. Until you are actually ready to fire, do not touch the trigger.

3. Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.

Whenever you pick up a gun, immediately engage the safety device if possible, and, if the gun has a magazine, remove it before opening the action and looking into the chamber(s) which should be clear of ammunition. If you do not know how to open the action or inspect the chamber(s), leave the gun alone and get help from someone who does.
